The Deputy Minister of Construction, Eng Godfrey Kasekenya has urged the citizens to fully invest in areas with large investments in various infrastructures including roads, especially the Indian Ocean region in Tanga and Pwani regions.
Eng Kasekenya gave his remarks yesterday when inspected the construction of the Tanga-Pangani-Saadani-Bagamoyo road to Dar es Salaam (Tungamaa-Mkwaja-Mkange section (Km 95.2)) and emphasized that the completion of the road will open up the country's economy due to the existing attractions in the area, so it is high time that the people get excited about the opportunity early when the construction is still going.
" Dar es Salaam-Bagamoyo-Pangani-Tanga road is part of the East African road that starts from Malindi-Lungalunga-Horohoro-Bagamoyo to Dar es Salaam, when completed it will stimulate the growth of economy, especially tourism, fishing, trade and transport services and hence it's time for every Tanzanian to see the opportunities in this region and go after them ,"he said.
He further asked the China Railway 15 B. Group contractor who is building the Tungamaa-Mkwaja-Mkange section (Km 95.2) to ensure that the section is completed by March next year and emphasized the Road Agency (TANROADS) in Tanga region to follow up with contractor and ensure that he has enough equipments and experts needed to finish the work within the given time frame as per contract requirements.
He further added that the Government is in the final stages of starting the construction of the Kwamsisi-Mkata KM 38 road, which is a continuation of the road in the Handeni, Kange and Makurunge Districts on the Bagamoyo District side, therefore asking the people in the project areas to cooperate with the contractor when the work starts.
Additionally Deputy Minister Kasekenya has inspected the progress of the construction of the Pangani bridge with a length of 525 meters and an access road (14.3 Km) and asked the contractor Shandong Luqiao Group to work day and night to achieve the goal.
On his part, the Consultant Engineer in charge of the project, Samson Ejigu, said that when the road is completed, it will have four large bridges, 30 large and 148 small culverts that will allow water to pass easily and thus not affect the road.
