Dar es Salaam. The President of the Federation of Miners' Associations of Tanzania (FEMATA), John Bina, has publicly commended the Ministry of Minerals and its associated institutions for their outstanding efforts in promoting small-scale miners.
Bina commended the ministry during his visit to the ministry's Pavilion at the 48th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair 'Sabasaba,' currently taking place at the Sabasaba grounds in Dar es Salaam.
Bina highlighted the significant role the Ministry and its institutions play in supporting small-scale mining activities across the country.
“You are doing a great job of promoting small-scale miners. I congratulate all the institutions under the Ministry, starting with the Mining Commission, Geological Survey of Tanzania (GST), State Mining Corporation (STAMICO) and Tanzania Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (TEITI),” he stated.
The Ministry of Minerals has been pivotal in implementing policies and initiatives aimed at improving the mining sector, particularly for small-scale miners who form a substantial part of Tanzania’s mining industry.
The Ministry’s efforts include providing technical support, facilitating access to markets, and ensuring compliance with environmental and safety standards.
The Mining Commission has been at the forefront, ensuring that mining activities are conducted responsibly and sustainably.
The Geological Survey of Tanzania (GST) has provided essential geological data and mapping services, which are critical for exploration and development. The State Mining Corporation (STAMICO) has engaged in various mining projects, contributing to the growth of the sector.
Meanwhile, the Tanzania Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (TEITI) has promoted transparency and accountability, fostering a favorable investment climate.
