Kairuki Commends TAWA for Management of Wildlife Resources

The Minister of Natural Resources and Tourism, Hon. Angellah Kairuki (MP), has commended the Tanzania Wildlife Management Authority (TAWA) for its good management of wildlife resources.

She made commended the authority on July 8, 2024, during her working visit to TAWA's office in Morogoro Region where she got a chance to listen and address some challenges.

"I commend TAWA for the good management of wildlife resources considering that it is an institution that hasn't been in existence for long," she said.

During her visit, she spoke to TAWA employees, emphasizing adherence to laws, regulations, guidelines, and procedures in fulfilling their duties to enhance performance.

Addressing the challenge of dangerous and destructive animals as presented by the management, Ms. Kairuki directed the authority to take various measures in addressing the challenge, such as building enclosures, also known as 'Vizimba' and providing working tools like motorcycles to mitigate the issue.

TAWA's Conservation Commissioner Mr. Mabula Misungwi Nyanda, welcomed and thanked Minister Kairuki for taking the time to visit the authority's office and promised to implement all the directives given.

Earlier, Acting Deputy Commissioner in charge of conservation services, Mlage Kabange, provided a report on the areas managed by TAWA, highlighting the successes and efforts made by the authority in combating dangerous and destructive wildlife.

During the visit, Minister Kairuki was accompanied by the Acting Director of the Wildlife Division, Dr. Fortunata Msoffe, Director of Policy and Planning, Abdallah Mvungi, Head of Legal Services Unit, and Lucy Saleko from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism.
