Young Africans have cruised into the group stage of CAF Champions League (CAF CL) thanks to a 7-0 aggregate win over CBE at New Amaan Sports Complex in Zanzibar on Saturday.
It is the second time in a row that they have secured a last 16 space in the champions league after doing the same last season.
With the outcome, Yanga have bagged 30m/- from President Samia Suluhu Hassan who buys each goal scored by a Tanzanian team in CAF Interclub Competitions for 5m/- courtesy of her presidential package.
Creative midfielder Clatous Chama opened the goal gates in the first half before Clement Mzize doing the same early in the second half.
Then substitute Stephanie Aziz Ki netted a brace while Duke Abuya and Mudathir Yahya contributed one goal apiece to enable the hosts walk away with the massive triumph.
It is therefore a good record for coach Miguel Gamondi who has excelled to negotiate his side into the last-16 of the champions league back to back and people are anxious to see how far his side go this season.
"Of course, we are all happy to make a breakthrough into the group stage of the competition and this is what Yanga fans were looking for.
"We fought hard to go this far and now, we are going to prepare on how best to make it better this time in this important competition," Gamondi said after the match.
