Dar es Salaam – All eyes are on the Benjamin William Mkapa Stadium today (October 15) as Tanzania’s Taifa Stars host DR Congo in a high-stakes 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier.
The match kicks off at 4 PM Tanzania time, with both teams eyeing a crucial result on their path to qualification.
Tanzania enters the encounter with 6 points from three matches, while DR Congo leads the group with 9 points from their three outings.
The stakes are high, especially for Tanzania, after suffering a defeat to DR Congo in their last meeting in Kinshasa. That loss ended Taifa Stars' unbeaten streak in the qualifiers, raising the pressure for tonight's decisive game.
With Guinea securing a victory over Ethiopia in their latest match, the road to qualification for Tanzania has grown tougher.
Today's loss would force the Taifa Stars to win their remaining matches to keep their hopes alive.
However, a draw or victory tonight could ease the pressure and boost their chances of making it to AFCON 2025.
For DR Congo, victory would confirm their spot at the tournament with 12 points, while a draw would leave them at 11 points, still in a favorable position.
Even a loss would keep them at 9 points, but they will aim to secure qualification early and avoid any slip-ups in the next games.
Tanzania’s squad needs every bit of support from the home crowd, and fans have been urged to fill the stadium in large numbers. A roaring crowd at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium could make all the difference as the Taifa Stars fight for a place in the AFCON finals.
“Let’s come out in force to cheer on our boys and give them the strength they need to succeed in this critical match!”
Will Tanzania rise to the occasion and keep their AFCON dream alive? The answer awaits tonight under the lights of Mkapa Stadium!
