The Tanzania Tennis Association (TTA) has opened its doors to parents, encouraging them to bring their children for tennis training sessions held every Saturday at the Gymkhana grounds in Dar es Salaam.
Speaking to The Respondent Online, TTA Vice President Rajab Borry said the initiative aims to nurture young talent and develop a junior team that can compete in both local and international tournaments.
“Our focus is on grooming the next generation of players who can represent Tanzania in various competitions. This is a great opportunity for children to learn the sport and grow into future members of both junior and senior national teams,” said Borry.
He emphasized the importance of starting from the grassroots level to increase the pool of tennis players in the country.
According to Borry, the TTA is actively promoting the sport among school children and is working closely with various schools to introduce tennis as an extracurricular activity.
“There are several international tournaments hosted here in Tanzania, and they present a valuable platform for young players to gain exposure and experience,” he added.
Borry also called on stakeholders and sports enthusiasts to support tennis development efforts, noting that collective support is essential to take the sport to greater heights.
