EWURA EMERGES OVERALL WINNER OF THE MINISTRY OF ENERGY’S SPORTS AND GAMES BONANZA

On Saturday (July 27) the Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority (Ewura) emerged the overall winner of the Ministry of Energy sports and games bonanza held at John Merlin Secondary Stadium in Dodoma City, beating other competitors from the Ministry and its institutions.

The bonanza included sports and games which are 100m sprint race athletic that dragged both men and women, relay race for both men and women; Football, Netball, Bao, and also few more local  games that are favourites included Rede, cards, running with eggs in a sack, running with a  glass of water, barrel penetration, and Bao.

When Handing over the grand-prize to Ewura’s Director-General Dr James Andilile, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy, Dr Doto Biteko advised the staff of the Ministry and its institutions to do regualr physical exercises to improve and protect their health from non-communicable diseases.

After receiving the prize, Dr. Andilile expressed his gratitude towards the organizer of the bonanza, Ministry of Energy, saying the event brought staff and leaders from various institutions not only to compete but mingle and improve teamwork.

The deputy premier reminded the participants to walk the talk on the Energy Sector’s Motto which emphasizes on providing best service to the people, practically.

"The energy sector is essential for the prosperity of our country's economy and the Honorable President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan counts on us," Dr. Biteko asserted. 

He went further to add: "We have to cherish and care for each other, work together and harder to keep the ball of energy services rolling."

He acclaimed the Bonanza, making it an annual event after the Ministry’s budget being approved to encourage staff providing better services to Tanzanians.


He also congratulated the staff who won the various games at the Bonanza event as well as the Energy's Ministry leaders who coordinated the Event with a success.

Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office (Policy, Coordination and Parliamentary Affairs) Ms. Jenista Mhagama expressed her admiration towards the Bonanza, saying the event reflects the President Samia's intention of ensuring Tanzanians are healthy and are away of non-communicable diseases through physical exercise.
