Road accident kills Chinese tourist in Serengeti

ARUSHA: A Chinese tourist died, and six others injured after the vehicle they were traveling in involved in an accident in Serengeti National Park on Sunday, July 28, 2024, at 4:00 PM.

A statement from the Tanzania National Parks Authority (TANAPA) says that the vehicle, with registration number T 603 DCL, belonged to Yonda Afrika Company and was on its way back to Lobo Wildlife Lodge.

The vehicle was carrying seven Chinese tourists and a Tanzanian driver. One of the tourists died, and the other six sustained injuries.

“The body of the deceased is being held at Mugumu Hospital in Serengeti District, and the six injured tourists are receiving treatment at the same hospital.

“An investigation is ongoing in collaboration with other authorities to determine the cause of the accident,” read the statement signed by TANAPA’s Chief Conservation Officer, Communication Unit, Catherine Mbena.
