By Alfred Zacharia

The Tanzanian government is committed to providing electricity to every household, from cities to remote villages, Deputy Minister for Energy, Hon. Judith Kapinga, announced during a visit by Vice President Dr. Philip Mpango in Kondoa District on August 21, 2024.

During the visit, Vice President Mpango laid the foundation stone for the Hurui River Bridge in Hurui Village, Dodoma region. The bridge is being built at a cost of TZS1.6 billion.

Once completed, the bridge will reconnect Kondoa District with Babati District in the Manyara region, restoring vital transportation and communication links.

Hon. Kapinga mentioned that President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan has already allocated funds to connect power to remote areas like Hurui.

"We have completed the first phase of rural electrification and are now working to expand access to improve the lives of Tanzanians," she said.

Residents of Hurui Village expressed their gratitude for the bridge construction, as it will make travel and communication easier.

The new Hurui Bridge will be 30 meters long and able to support loads of up to 70 tons.

Vice President Mpango also visited Iboni Primary School, which educates children with special needs. He encouraged parents and guardians to ensure that children with disabilities receive an education, emphasizing the government's commitment to inclusive education for all.
