The event was organized by the Arise and Shine Church, led by Pastor
Boniface Mwamposa, aiming to bring unity and provide recreational opportunities
for young people involved in the bodaboda business.
RC Chalamila praised the Arise and Shine Church for its initiative. He
encouraged other religious leaders to follow Pastor Mwamposa's example.
"Religious institutions play a vital role in supporting the
government's efforts to empower the youth," Chalamila said.
He called for collaboration to build a nation of hardworking, peaceful,
and God-fearing young people.
Kinondoni District Commissioner, Saad Mtambule, also spoke at the event.
He urged the youth to protect the nation's peace by avoiding criminal
activities and reporting wrongdoers.
"Bodaboda drivers are crucial to our economy. They provide essential
transportation services," Mtambule noted.
Pastor Boniface Mwamposa, the founder of the Bodaboda Cup, explained the
church's motivation.
"We recognize the significant contribution of bodaboda drivers in
transporting church members and helping with various activities. This
tournament is our way of giving back," Pastor Mwamposa said.
Francis Siza, also known as Majizo, the Director of EFM Radio and TVE, was
present at the launch. He acknowledged the importance of bodaboda drivers in
transportation. "I work with bodaboda drivers every day and will continue
to support them," Majizo stated.
The Bodaboda Cup will feature 60 teams from all five districts of Dar es
Salaam. The first-place winner will receive five motorcycles, the second-place
winner will receive three motorcycles, and the third-place winner will receive
