NMB Bank has successfully handed over a sponsorship package of sports gear to support 150 golfers who are set to participate in the upcoming 2024 Diplomatic Golf Tournament. The tournament, which will take place over two days from September 21-22, 2024, at the Kili Golf course in Arusha, aims to raise funds for children from underprivileged backgrounds.
Organized by the Songea Mississippi (SOMI) Foundation in partnership with the host Kili Golf Club, the sixth edition of this international tournament will feature 36 holes to determine the champion among 150 participants. Golfers from East African Community countries, Dubai, and the United States are expected to compete.
Tournament coordinator Reinfrida Rwezaura confirmed that all preparations for this year’s tournament are complete. She highlighted that the primary goal of the event is to raise funds to support orphanages and help children in need, including assisting pregnant girls to return to school.
In addition to promoting a charitable cause, the tournament provides a platform for golfers from different regions and countries to showcase their talent, sportsmanship, and discipline. Furthermore, the event is contributing to the country's efforts to boost tourism through sports.
NMB Bank’s Northern Zone Manager, Baraka Ladislaus, expressed the bank's commitment to the cause by sponsoring essential gear such as jerseys, caps, and special towels for the players.
Ladislaus noted that the bank’s decision to support the event was driven by its alignment to help children from disadvantaged backgrounds. "In addition to this sponsorship, NMB has also sent a team to participate in the tournament, to engage with the community and demonstrate our capabilities as a bank in the sports sector," he said.
He emphasized that NMB Bank continues to offer various financial solutions to help communities address their economic and social challenges, reinforcing their commitment to supporting societal development.
