The Deputy
Prime Minister and Minister of Energy, Dr. Doto Biteko, has called for
practical cooperation among African nations.
He made
these remarks on September 4, 2024, during a visit to Triumphant College in
Windhoek, Namibia. This visit was part of the Global African Hydrogen Summit.
He said
the dreams of Pan-Africanists are being fulfilled through Africans investing in
long-term development plans including areas like education, health,
agriculture, fisheries, and mining.
“Cooperation
between African countries in different sectors will help them break free from
colonial legacies,” Dr. Biteko stated.
He
mentioned that this aligns with the goals of the founding leaders of these
nations.
Dr. Biteko
highlighted the existing cooperation between Tanzania and Namibia. He mentioned
that Triumphant College will soon introduce a Swahili language training
program.
“Tanzania,
through the Open University of Tanzania, will provide teachers for this program,”
he revealed.
Dr. Biteko
was accompanied on his visit by the Tanzanian Ambassador to Namibia, Caesar
Chacha Waitara. Other officials in his delegation included the Permanent
Secretary of the Ministry of Energy, Felchesemi Mramba, and the Commissioner of
Energy, Innocent Luoga. They toured the college’s facilities, including a
computer lab.
Prof.
Geoffrey Kiangi, the Director of Triumphant College, thanked Dr. Biteko for
visiting the institution. He expressed appreciation for the time taken by the
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy to make the visit.
