The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy, Dr. Doto Biteko, has called for practical cooperation among African nations.

He made these remarks on September 4, 2024, during a visit to Triumphant College in Windhoek, Namibia. This visit was part of the Global African Hydrogen Summit.

He said the dreams of Pan-Africanists are being fulfilled through Africans investing in long-term development plans including areas like education, health, agriculture, fisheries, and mining.

“Cooperation between African countries in different sectors will help them break free from colonial legacies,” Dr. Biteko stated.

He mentioned that this aligns with the goals of the founding leaders of these nations.

Dr. Biteko highlighted the existing cooperation between Tanzania and Namibia. He mentioned that Triumphant College will soon introduce a Swahili language training program.

“Tanzania, through the Open University of Tanzania, will provide teachers for this program,” he revealed.

Dr. Biteko was accompanied on his visit by the Tanzanian Ambassador to Namibia, Caesar Chacha Waitara. Other officials in his delegation included the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Energy, Felchesemi Mramba, and the Commissioner of Energy, Innocent Luoga. They toured the college’s facilities, including a computer lab.

Prof. Geoffrey Kiangi, the Director of Triumphant College, thanked Dr. Biteko for visiting the institution. He expressed appreciation for the time taken by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy to make the visit.
