The Tanzania Trade Development Authority (TanTrade), in collaboration with the Confederation of Tanzania Industries (CTI), has organized the eagerly anticipated International Industrial Exhibition, widely known as TIMEXPO.
This prominent event is scheduled to take
place from September 26 to October 2, 2024, at the Julius Nyerere International
Conference Centre (Sabasaba Grounds) on Kilwa Road in Dar es Salaam.
TIMEXPO
has established itself as a critical platform for showcasing Tanzania's
industrial prowess, drawing attention from both local and international
stakeholders. According to Mr. Tito Nombo, who spoke on behalf of Tan Trade’s
Director General, the organization is committed to driving sector-specific
exhibitions as a catalyst for economic growth and industrial development.
He
emphasized that "TIMEXPO serves as a strategic tool for industrial
advancement, offering a unique platform for industries of all sizes to network,
innovate, and scale up operations."
The
significance of TIMEXPO cannot be overstated, particularly in a country like
Tanzania, which is on a determined path toward industrialization. Exhibitions
such as TIMEXPO play a pivotal role in stimulating the economy by opening up
markets, both domestically and internationally.
The
event allows small, medium, and large-scale industries to showcase their
innovations, forge strategic partnerships, and attract investments.
Economic
experts underline the transformative impact of such exhibitions on Tanzania's
economy. Dr. Donald Mmari, an economic analyst from REPOA, asserts that
"Industrial exhibitions like TIMEXPO are instrumental in accelerating
Tanzania's industrialization agenda.
They provide a vital platform for local
industries to showcase their capabilities, attract foreign investment, and
create jobs, which are essential for sustained economic growth."
Moreover,
TIMEXPO aligns with the broader national goals of enhancing the competitiveness
of Tanzanian products in regional and global markets.
Prof.
Humphrey Moshi from the University of Dar es Salaam's Economics Department was
quoted as saying, “By facilitating the exchange of ideas and technologies,
TIMEXPO helps bridge the gap between local industries and international
standards, ultimately boosting export potential and contributing to the
nation's GDP."
The
upcoming exhibition is expected to draw significant participation from a wide
range of industries, including manufacturing, agriculture, technology, and
services. This diversity not only highlights the breadth of Tanzania's
industrial landscape but also underscores the country's potential as a hub for
industrial innovation in the East African region.
As
the countdown to TIMEXPO 2024 begins, there is palpable excitement among
industry players and policymakers alike. The exhibition is more than just a
showcase; it is a testament to Tanzania's industrial journey and a beacon of
the nation's economic aspirations.
With each edition, TIMEXPO continues to
solidify its role as a cornerstone of Tanzania's industrial growth, fostering
economic resilience and positioning the country as a key player on the global
industrial stage.
