This initiative aims to streamline traffic flow and enhance economic activities in the region.

Speaking at the opening of a strategic partnership meeting between Tanzania and Japan, Minister Bashungwa highlighted the importance of the project, emphasizing that the flyover will significantly reduce traffic delays and contribute to economic growth.

"We are in advanced talks with Japan regarding the design and construction of the Morocco Flyover. This project will not only improve traffic at the Morocco intersection but will also involve upgrading other key road junctions to minimize the need for traffic lights," Bashungwa explained.

He further praised President Samia Suluhu Hassan for creating an environment that encourages foreign investment and business collaboration. He noted that through initiatives like the East African Community (EAC), the Southern African Development Community (SADC), and the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), Tanzania is strengthening its position as a key player in regional trade.

Bashungwa also called on Tanzanians to support President Samia’s efforts by welcoming investors and removing bureaucratic obstacles that hinder the progress of development projects.

Deputy Minister of Transport, David Kihenzile, echoed Bashungwa's sentiments, underscoring the essential role that transportation plays in national development. He emphasized Tanzania’s strategic position as an international trade hub, serving as a gateway for neighboring countries to access global markets.

Tanzania's Ambassador to Japan, Baraka Luvanda, spoke on the value of the ongoing collaboration, noting that the meeting brought together infrastructure experts from Japan who specialize in building resilient infrastructure. Their expertise in designing projects that withstand natural disasters, such as earthquakes and typhoons, will provide critical insights for Tanzania and other African countries in building durable infrastructure.

The Morocco Flyover project is expected to mark a significant step forward in improving urban mobility, promoting economic growth, and strengthening Tanzania’s partnership with Japan.
