Dar es Salaam – Marking a milestone for the country’s packaging industry, the first-ever exhibition focusing on paper solutions, "Pro Paper Tanzania," was launched yesterday in Dar es Salaam. Bringing together a variety of packaging firms from across the globe, the event highlights innovative, sustainable alternatives to traditional plastic packaging.

The exhibition was inaugurated by India’s Deputy Ambassador to Tanzania, Manoj Verma, who expressed pride in being part of such a significant event.

He voiced his excitement about the strong representation from Indian companies, emphasizing their potential to play a vital role in Tanzania’s shift toward a sustainable packaging ecosystem.

"It’s a privilege to be here at this landmark event, especially to see such robust participation from Indian firms. Their contributions will help set the stage for a sustainable paper industry here in Tanzania," Verma said. "With plastic use posing environmental challenges, a transition to paper packaging is the right step for the future."

Jeen Joshua, Executive Director of Pro Paper Tanzania, emphasized that this exhibition arrives at a crucial time, as the global community increasingly turns toward paper and away from plastic.

He noted that "Pro Paper Tanzania" aligns closely with Tanzania's national sustainability goals, showcasing innovations and solutions that support the country’s eco-friendly initiatives.

"The world is moving decisively from plastic to paper, and this exhibition is part of that journey. We’re here to support national and international efforts in advancing sustainable packaging solutions," Joshua said.

He extended an invitation to companies and stakeholders in the packaging sector to attend the exhibition, where they can discover cutting-edge technologies from companies in advanced economies that are leading in sustainable packaging solutions.

The exhibition will run for two days and conclude on November 9, offering an unmissable opportunity for industry professionals to engage in Tanzania’s evolving packaging landscape.
