Rufiji, Pwani — The Chief Executive Officer of Tanzania’s Rural and Urban Roads Agency (Tarura), Engineer Victor Seff, has directed contractors working on road and bridge projects in Ikwiriri and Utete towns to speed up their construction efforts to meet contract deadlines. Engineer Seff made the remarks during a site inspection on November 8, 2024, as he assessed ongoing infrastructure projects in Rufiji District.

During his visit, Engineer Seff inspected five road, bridge, and culvert projects across Ikwiriri and Utete. In Utete, he instructed contractor NRST Ltd, currently building the 32-kilometer Utete-Kingupira road using an innovative Multi-Enzymic Compound technology, to deploy additional equipment in order to accelerate progress and meet deadlines.

Seff also expressed satisfaction with RABCO Construction Ltd’s work on the Nambunju Culvert and the grading of Nyamwage Road, which is now 80% complete. However, he urged MAC Contractor, responsible for the Mohoro Bridge, to expedite construction ahead of the impending rainy season, which could hinder progress.

Pledging to revisit Rufiji next week to review the contractors’ progress, Engineer Seff emphasized Tarura's commitment to ensuring the timely completion of infrastructure projects. This monitoring visit is part of a broader tour covering the Pwani, Mtwara, and Lindi regions to oversee road development initiatives crucial for regional connectivity.
