The Zanzibar Heroes national team will face Tanzania’s Kilimanjaro Stars in the opening match of the Mapinduzi Cup today at 8:15 PM on Pemba Island.

Speaking about their preparations for the game, coaches and players from both teams expressed confidence in their readiness.

Zanzibar Heroes' Assistant Coach, Ali Suleiman Mtuli, stated that the squad is well-prepared and eagerly awaiting the game. He acknowledged the importance of the match and anticipated a tough competition.

“This is a big game. We respect our opponents, but we are not afraid of them. We expect a competitive match since we know our neighbors well,” he said.

Kilimanjaro Stars' Head Coach, Ahmad Ally, highlighted that the tournament serves as preparation for upcoming international competitions, including CHAN 2025 and AFCON 2027.

“This tournament gives opportunities to young players who lack international exposure, as part of building our teams for CHAN 2025 and AFCON 2027,” said Ally.

Kilimanjaro Stars player Lameck Lawi added that the team is well-prepared and hopeful for a victory in today’s match.
