The District Commissioner of Tanga,  Japhari Kubecha, has been visiting different areas in the district to assess the quality of public services.

Recently, he visited Pongwe Ward to check on the health services at the Pongwe Health Center. This visit came after complaints from local residents about informal payment practices, where they were unable to get receipts for services and there was no clear system for these payments.

During the visit,  Kubecha emphasized that healthcare services must be of high quality and must follow the rules set by the government.

He acknowledged that this issue needs urgent attention to prevent complaints from citizens who depend on these services for their well-being.

Kubecha also directed the Acting Director and Chief Medical Officer of Tanga City, Dr. Mwandambo, to take strong action against health centers that have been receiving repeated complaints.

He stressed the need for improvements in the management of these facilities to make sure they follow the government's laws and procedures to provide quality healthcare.

“We want our citizens to receive quality healthcare without any illegal procedures. It is important that payments are made officially, following the government's system, and that citizens receive receipts to address the complaints,”  Kubecha said.

This visit is part of Tanga District's ongoing efforts to ensure that public services, especially healthcare, are of the highest quality and benefit the citizens without any problems.
