Jangwani road closed temporarily due to heavy rains

By Alfred Zacharia

The Tanzania National Roads Agency (Tanroads) in Dar es Salaam has issued a warning for all road users traveling on the Morogoro Road in the Jangwani area, which has become impassable due to heavy rainfall.

The ongoing rains, which have affected several parts of the city, have caused water levels to rise and flood the road, making it unsafe for traffic.

Starting from 10:00 PM today, March 27, 2025, road users are advised to avoid the Morogoro Road in Jangwani and instead use alternative routes.

These include Bagamoyo, Kawawa, Nyerere, and Mandela roads, which will provide safer access to the city center and Kariakoo area.

"We urge all road users to avoid the Morogoro Road in Jangwani and use alternative routes such as Bagamoyo, Kawawa, Nyerere, and Mandela roads to enter and exit the city center and Kariakoo area," said the office of the Tanroads Dar es Salaam Manager in a statement.

The agency added that the situation is being closely monitored, and further updates will be provided as necessary. T

hey emphasized that using these alternative routes is crucial to ensure safe travel and minimize disruptions caused by the ongoing weather conditions.

The Jangwani area, which frequently experiences flooding during heavy rains, has once again been affected by the rising water levels, highlighting the vulnerability of certain roads to adverse weather events. Tanroads is working to assess the damage and implement measures to improve road safety during such weather events.
