After a narrow 2-1 defeat to Kagera Sugar, Coastal Union’s Head Coach Juma Mwambusi is determined to turn things around.
The loss highlighted several areas for improvement, and Mwambusi has emphasized the importance of going back to the drawing board.
The team will now focus on fixing these issues ahead of their upcoming match against Yanga in the NBC Tanzania Premier League.
Coastal Union is set to face Yanga on April 7, 2025, at the KMC Complex in Dar es Salaam. With the match just around the corner, Mwambusi believes that there’s enough time to rectify the mistakes that led to their loss against Kagera Sugar.
The coach explained that he has already identified the team’s shortcomings, particularly in terms of positioning and decision-making on the pitch, which will be addressed during the upcoming training sessions.
“After the Kagera Sugar game, I had a chance to analyze our performance, and it’s clear that there were some aspects we need to improve. We will focus on those areas in training to ensure we are better prepared for the match against Yanga,” said Mwambusi.
Although the upcoming match against Yanga is expected to be a tough one, Mwambusi is confident in his team’s ability to fight for a positive result.
He acknowledged that Yanga is a strong and formidable opponent, but he also emphasized that Coastal Union will not back down easily.
“Yanga is a big team with a rich history in Tanzanian football, and we have a lot of respect for them. However, we are going into this match with the mindset of fighting for the best possible outcome. We know what’s at stake, and our focus will be on playing our best football,” he added.
Coastal Union is currently in a challenging position in the league, sitting 10th on the table with 25 points.
While this puts them in a mid-table spot, the team is keen to improve their standing and build momentum as they approach the final stretch of the season.
Mwambusi’s leadership and tactical adjustments will be crucial in ensuring the team remains competitive in the tough league race.
“Right now, we are working hard to improve, and we know that every match is crucial. We are looking forward to facing Yanga, and we’ll make sure our preparations are thorough,” concluded Mwambusi.
Coastal Union will travel to Dar es Salaam with a renewed sense of purpose, hoping to make an impact in their quest for better results in the league.
