Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa has called on Tanzanian ambassadors to embrace and live by the philosophy of President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, which seeks to strengthen diplomatic ties and boost economic diplomacy between Tanzania and other nations worldwide.

This approach, according to the Prime Minister, is key to fostering long-lasting relationships that will benefit Tanzania in multiple sectors.

"By adopting President Samia's philosophy, we will be able to attract more investors to Tanzania in key sectors such as manufacturing, agriculture, and trade. It will also enable us to expand markets for Tanzanian products," said Majaliwa.

He made these remarks during a meeting on Sunday, April 6, 2025, with Ambassador Hamad Khamis Hamad, Tanzania's Ambassador to Mozambique, and Ambassador Holmes Matinyi, Tanzania's Ambassador to Sweden.

The Prime Minister reiterated that Tanzania’s diplomatic missions abroad play a crucial role in supporting the country’s socio-economic development.

The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of Tanzanian diplomats fostering long-term relationships with the countries where they serve.

“Our ambassadors are key players in advancing the nation’s foreign policy. We have great expectations of you in ensuring that the strong ties between Tanzania and these nations continue to thrive,” he added.

Ambassadors Hamad and Matinyi were urged to take the lead in deepening the existing relations between Tanzania and Mozambique, and Sweden, respectively.

Majaliwa noted that these relationships should be nurtured and built upon to create opportunities for both countries.

In particular, the Prime Minister pointed out the importance of economic diplomacy, with a special focus on attracting foreign direct investment (FDI) and promoting Tanzania’s exports.

In addition to economic matters, Majaliwa also underscored the need for Tanzanian diplomats to manage resources efficiently within their respective embassies.

He stressed the importance of ensuring proper oversight of financial matters, particularly in managing embassy budgets.

“Ambassadors must be responsible stewards of the funds allocated to their missions. This is not just a matter of financial discipline, but also a reflection of our national integrity,” said Majaliwa.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister encouraged the ambassadors to promote the Swahili language globally. He highlighted that Tanzania’s rich cultural heritage, which includes the Swahili language, should be a part of the diplomatic mission abroad.

"It is essential for you to establish or support initiatives that teach Swahili in the countries where you serve. Language is a powerful tool in diplomacy, and it will strengthen Tanzania’s cultural influence globally,” he said.

The meeting concluded with Majaliwa expressing his confidence in the ambassadors' ability to meet the expectations set before them, acknowledging that their efforts would play a pivotal role in Tanzania's continued growth on the global stage.

As Tanzania continues to position itself as a regional economic powerhouse, the government's diplomatic missions are critical in helping the country achieve its goals, paving the way for a prosperous future through strengthened international relations.
