Simba SC have made a strong start and secured a place in the semi-finals of the CRDB Federation Cup following their 3-1 victory over Mbeya City in the quarter-final match played yesterday at the KMC Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
The result means Mbeya City have been knocked out of the tournament, marking the end of their journey in the 2024/2025 season.
Mbeya City took an early lead in the 22nd minute with a goal from Mudathir Said. However, Simba responded quickly, equalizing just two minutes later through a powerful header from Fabrice Ngoma in the 24th minute.
Simba continued their dominance, with Leonel Ateba scoring the second goal in the 30th minute. The third goal came in the 43rd minute, this time from Joshua Mutale, securing a comfortable 3-1 lead before halftime.
The second half saw both teams creating chances, but neither side managed to find the back of the net. The match ended with Simba maintaining their 3-1 lead.
Quarter-final action will continue tomorrow with two more fixtures: JKT Tanzania will face Pamba at Meja Jenerali Isamuhyo Stadium in Dar es Salaam, while Singida Black Stars will take on Kagera Sugar at the CCM Liti Stadium in Singida.
