Kibiti District Council Chairperson and Bungu Ward Councillor, Ramadhan Mpendu, led a tree-planting initiative yesterday at Nyambili–Nyambunda Secondary School, as part of an ongoing campaign to promote environmental conservation.
The exercise saw the planting of 150 fruit and shade trees within the school compound. Mpendu praised the Tanzania Forest Services Agency (TFS) for its vital role in producing and distributing free tree seedlings to communities and institutions across the country.
“Let’s protect these trees they hold the promise of a better future for generations to come. TFS has done a commendable job; these seedlings are a symbol of our commitment to a greener, healthier environment,” he said after the event.
The event was also attended by Nyambunda Village Chairperson, Omari Msumi, the school’s headmaster, teachers, and students, all of whom took part enthusiastically in the planting.
Hon. Mpendu applauded the dedication shown by both teachers and students, describing the school as a shining example of how institutions can play a key role in safeguarding natural resources.
