On April 17, 2025, Stephen Wasira, the Vice Chairman of CCM Tanzania Mainland, arrived in Sikonge District, Tabora Region, for a significant meeting of the District Executive Committee (DEC) of the ruling party, CCM.
His visit is part of an ongoing initiative to assess the health of the party and to evaluate the implementation of CCM's 2020-2025 Election Manifesto.
Wasira's arrival was met with enthusiasm by local party members, as he was accompanied by various leaders, including members of the National Executive Committee (NEC) and Said Nkumba, the Chairman of CCM Tabora Region.
In his opening remarks, Wasira expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome, emphasizing the importance of this visit.
"I am here to ensure that we remain strong as a party and that our promises to the people continue to be fulfilled. This meeting is a testament to the unity and strength of CCM," he said.
During the meeting, Wasira shared significant updates from the recent Special National Congress of CCM.
He informed the members that the congress had overwhelmingly endorsed President Samia Suluhu Hassan as CCM's presidential candidate for the 2025 general elections.
"The Special National Congress has spoken with one voice. President Samia Suluhu Hassan will lead us into the next phase of national development, and I have no doubt that she will continue to serve the people with integrity and dedication," Wasira declared.
In addition, Wasira confirmed that Dr. Emmanuel Nchimbi would be President Hassan's running mate. "Dr. Nchimbi is a man of great capability, and together with President Samia, they will steer this country toward even greater achievements," he added.
Regarding the Zanzibar presidency, Wasira informed the attendees that the congress had nominated Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, the current President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, as CCM's candidate for the Zanzibar presidential election.
"Dr. Mwinyi has proven himself as a capable and visionary leader. We are confident in his ability to continue the progress made in Zanzibar," Wasira stated.
Wasira's speech underscored CCM's unwavering commitment to the people of Tanzania and its strategic preparations for the 2025 elections. "Our mission remains clear to build a stronger, more prosperous nation," he concluded.
