Preparations for the Dar es Salaam Regional Basketball League are in full swing, with excitement growing as the new season is set to begin on May 10 in the bustling city of Dar es Salaam.
The 2025 edition promises to be one of the most competitive yet, featuring 32 teams 16 men's teams and 16 women's teams all eager to make their mark on the court.
Speaking with The Respondent Online, Haleluya Kavalambi, Technical Director of the Dar es Salaam Basketball Association (BD), confirmed that the official fixture list has been released and distributed to all participating teams.
“Each team is now aware of its opponents, and preparations are ongoing as clubs get ready for the new season,” said Kavalambi.
He also noted that the league’s opening day will include special exhibition games featuring veteran players and athletes with disabilities, emphasizing the league’s commitment to inclusion and community engagement.
The opening matches will feature exciting encounters, with DB Lioness facing off against City Queens in the women’s division, and JKT clashing with UDSM-Outsiders in the men’s opener. These games are expected to set the tone for a highly competitive season.
Among the men’s teams competing this season are: ABC, Chui, Dar City, Don Bosco Oratory, JKT, Kampala University, Kurasini Heat, Mchenga Stars, Mgulani JKT, Pazia, Polisi, Savio, Srelio, Stein Warriors, and Vijana Bulls.
The women’s division will see participation from: City Queens, Don Bosco Lioness, Don Bosco Troncatti, Jeshi Stars, JKT Stars, Kigamboni Queens, Kurasini Divas, Mgulani Stars, Pazi Queens, Polisi Stars, Reel Dream, Tausi Royals, Twalipo Queens, UDSM Queens, Ukonga Queens, and Vijana Queens.
As the countdown to tip-off continues, players, coaches, and fans across Dar es Salaam are preparing for what promises to be an exciting and dynamic basketball season full of passion, talent, and fierce competition.
