Fabrice Ngoma emerged as the match winner on monday evening as Simba SC claimed a hard-fought 1-0 victory over JKT Tanzania in an NBC Premier League clash at Major General Isamuhyo Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
The decisive goal came in the sixth minute of first-half stoppage time, when Ngoma pounced on a loose ball at the edge of the box and fired a precise low shot past the goalkeeper a moment that ultimately sealed all three points for the visitors.
“We knew this would be a difficult game,” Ngoma said after the final whistle. “JKT are well-organized and physical, but we kept our composure. I’m happy to score, but what matters most is helping the team get the win.”
Simba controlled possession for much of the first half, patiently building their attacks and probing for openings.
JKT Tanzania, to their credit, maintained a disciplined defensive shape and looked to threaten on the counter.
For long stretches, it appeared both sides would head into the break level until Ngoma’s clinical finish shifted the momentum.
The second half saw JKT come out with greater attacking urgency, pushing higher up the pitch and creating several half-chances. However, Simba’s defense, marshaled by Jean Ahoua and Shomari Kapombe, stood firm under pressure. Goalkeeper Moussa Camara was called into action on multiple occasions and delivered a composed performance to protect the slender lead.
“This was a match where tactical discipline mattered more than flair,” Simba head coach Abdelhak Benchikha said post-match. “We managed the game well, defended when we had to, and made our moment count.”
JKT head coach Ali Mustapha expressed disappointment with the result but praised his players’ effort. “We fought hard and created a few chances, but lacked sharpness in front of goal. We’ll take the positives and improve going forward.”
The result lifts Simba to 63 points, keeping them within striking distance of arch-rivals Yanga SC, who currently lead the table with 70 points. Importantly, Simba still have two games in hand, which could prove crucial in the title run in.
With the league entering its decisive phase, every point now carries added significance and Simba’s latest win keeps their championship hopes very much alive.
