President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, is set to engage live via phone with university students during the semi-final stage of the Higher Education Samia Cup, scheduled for the day after tomorrow at JMK Park in Dar es Salaam.
The semi-finals promise an exciting lineup, with the first match featuring the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM) against St.
Joseph University, followed by a second showdown between Kampala International University in Tanzania (KIUT) and the Dar es Salaam Institute of Technology (DIT).
The guest of honor for the event will be the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information, Culture, Arts, and Sports who also serves as the Government Spokesperson Mr. Gerson Msigwa.
Tournament organizer Cornerio Swai, from Conel Investment, confirmed in an interview with The Respondent Online that preparations are fully complete, with all logistics in place to ensure a smooth and competitive event.
"We’re expecting a highly competitive atmosphere," Swai said. "The winners of each semi-final will face off in the final, where we will crown the champion. What makes this year’s semi-final special is the strong show of support from top leaders, including President Samia, who continues to champion sports development in the country."
In addition to President Samia’s live address, several high-profile guests are expected to attend the event in person.
These include the Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner, . Albert Chalamila who also serves as the tournament patron and Simba SC’s Communications and Media Manager, Ahmed Ally, as the special guest.
Swai encouraged students and residents of Dar es Salaam to attend the matches in large numbers to show their support and boost the morale of participating players.
"This tournament isn’t just about sports it's about youth engagement, national pride, and recognizing the President’s efforts in advancing both education and athletics," he emphasized.
