Simba face Mashujaa in crucial league clash

By Victoria Godfrey

Simba SC will return to NBC Premier League action on Thursday as they face Mashujaa FC at the KMC Complex in Dar es Salaam.

This match marks Simba’s first domestic fixture since qualifying for the final of the CAF Confederation Cup, and it carries significant weight as the team continues its push for the league title.

Simba’s Assistant Coach Selemani Matola has expressed confidence in his squad’s readiness, confirming that all players are in good shape except for midfielder Yassin Mzamiru, who is recovering and expected to resume training soon.

“We have just come from international competition, where we’ve reached the final, but we have put that aside. Our full focus is now on this match against Mashujaa,” said Matola. He added that despite a challenging schedule, the team is aiming to win all of their remaining four league games to keep their title hopes alive.

Simba winger Awesu Awesu echoed Matola’s confidence, emphasizing that the players are motivated and fully committed to securing maximum points.

“It doesn’t matter where the opponent stands on the table. We treat every match with seriousness, and we are ready to fight for a win,” he stated.

On the other side, Mashujaa FC is approaching the match with equal determination. Assistant Coach Charles Fredie noted that the team is well prepared both technically and mentally, aiming to continue their winning momentum.

“Simba is a strong side, but we are ready for the challenge. We’ve prepared the team to compete and aim for a win,” he said.

Mashujaa captain Masome Mashauri added that his teammates understand the importance of the match, especially considering their position on the table. “It’s the 90 minutes that will decide everything. We are prepared to give our best,” he said.

Simba’s Communications Manager Ahmed Ally also highlighted the significance of this fixture, not just for points but as a celebration of the team’s continental success.

Fans are expected to honor the players before kickoff in recognition of their historic qualification for the CAF Confederation Cup final.
