Mbinga. The Prevention and Combating of Corruption Bureau (PCCB) on Monday (July 29) urged media practitioners in Mbinga District to take a leadership role in the fight against corruption.
The call was made in Mbinga Town Council by the head of PCCB for Mbinga District, Mr. Frederick Msae, while addressing 18 journalists from various local media organizations ahead of the Local Government Elections to be held later this year.
“I advise you to take a responsibility of fighting against corruption because this is a crosscutting issue that requires everyone’s contribution,” he said during a one-day seminar on the role of journalists in the war against corruption.
He was of the view that journalists should desist from reporting stories based on favouritism and instead honour the ethics of journalism.
“You (journalists) need to build public confidence in anti-corruption fight and support for the whistle-blowing policy of the government,” said Mr. Msae.
He noted that whistle blowing remains a strong tool for the fight against corruption and other forms of wrongdoing in society.
