Azam kick-off new season with a barren draw against JKT Tanzania

By Our Special Correspondent

Azam have launched the 2024/25 Premier League campaign on backpedal after recording a goalless draw against JKT Tanzania at Major General Isamuhyo Stadium in Dar es Salaam on Wednesday.

It was a seemingly an open game as each side had promising attempts to put the ball behind the net but none of them made a breakthrough.

In the first half, JKT Tanzania dominated matters as they enjoyed the big share forcing Azam to play defensively to avoid conceding an early goal.

In the second half, Azam came refreshed hoping to produce something meaningful into the clash but could not excel to break the hosts who were well organised at the back.

The encounter also witnessed veteran striker John Bocco making his debut for JKT Tanzania after being introduced deep in the second half to add momentum upfront.

Speaking after the match, Azam coach Youssouph Dabo said they still have enough time to regroup as such, the draw will only make them stronger.

On his part, JKT Tanzania coach Hamady Ally thanked his players and the technical panel for sticking to the game plan throughout the clash.
