Deputy
Prime Minister and Minister of Energy, Dr. Doto Biteko has launched the Digital
Skills for All program (Digi Truck) organized by Huawei and Vodacom Foundation,
aiming to boost digital education across Tanzania.
Representing
President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, Dr. Biteko unveiled the government's
commitment to using Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to enhance
economic development.
This
effort is in line with the National Vision 2025, the 2016 ICT Development
Policy, and the 2020-2025 CCM Manifesto.
"We
are dedicated to improving ICT education to build a society with the skills to
use technology effectively. This will foster innovation and contribute to the
digital economy, ensuring that digital progress benefits everyone, regardless
of their economic status," Dr. Biteko said.
He also
noted that the government, under President Samia's leadership, is working to
ensure investors contribute to improving lives through ICT and other sectors,
while also gaining from their investments.
Dr. Biteko
highlighted the importance of the digital economy in driving development by
increasing efficiency and providing more opportunities for citizens.
Minister
of Information, Communication, and Information Technology, Jerry Silaa, praised
Huawei and Vodacom for the Digi Truck initiative, noting its potential to reach
remote areas and support young people with digital education.
Vodacom
Tanzania's Managing Director, Philip Besiimire, shared that they will
collaborate with Huawei to extend this digital service nationwide, focusing on
equipping the youth to keep pace with scientific and innovative advancements.
The Digi
Truck technology launched today by Vodacom Tanzania and Huawei will offer ICT
education and skills to citizens.
The event saw the attendance of government officials and ICT stakeholders from both within and outside Tanzania, all coming together to witness this significant launch.
