Ngorongoro,
Tanzania - Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office (Policy,
Parliament, and Coordination), William Lukuvi, has warned the people of
Ngorongoro to avoid manipulation from individuals or groups with bad
intentions.
He
particularly cautioned against manipulation through social media, saying it
could harm their lives and the country’s image.
While
speaking to residents of Kayapusi and Irkepus villages, Minister Lukuvi preached
about peace and stability.
“You have
a duty to keep Ngorongoro peaceful. Don’t let anyone mislead you,” he said.
Lukuvi
reminded the residents that they are Tanzanians with the same rights as others,
urging them to protect the country’s interests and avoid any actions that could
disturb the peace.
“Remember,
you are part of this nation. It’s your responsibility to ensure Ngorongoro
stays safe so tourism can continue, and the country can earn revenue from
visitors,” Lukuvi added.
He also
stressed the importance of tourism to the local economy.
“The
tourists visiting Ngorongoro help us build infrastructure and provide essential
services. They also pay the salaries of the public servants who serve you.
Don’t be misled by people with bad intentions, or you may lose these benefits,”
Lukuvi warned.
Arusha
Regional Commissioner, Hon. Paul Makonda has expressed his gratitude to the
residents for maintaining peace and stability, which he said had brought honor
to the region and the country.
“I commend
you for staying peaceful during the five days of your demands. Your calmness
allowed tourism to continue without any problems in the Ngorongoro Conservation
Area,” Makonda said.
Recently,
the residents of Ngorongoro had asked the government to cancel the suspension
of local elections.
They
argued that the relocation of residents from Ngorongoro to Msomera and other
areas was voluntary.
