Zanzibar.
On August 23, 2024, the Director General of the Rural Energy Agency (REA), En.
Hassan Saidy reiterated the agency's commitment to ongoing research on Clean
Cooking Energy products to evaluate the efficiency of the technologies being
distributed to the public.
Speaking
during his visit to the REA pavilion at the Kizimkazi Festival in South Unguja,
Zanzibar, Eng. Saidy emphasized the importance of these studies in aligning
with the vision of President Samia Suluhu Hassan to ensure affordable and
efficient clean cooking energy for all Tanzanians.
"We
will continue to research various Clean Cooking Energy products to fulfill the
President's commitment to providing affordable and efficient Clean Cooking
Energy to everyone," said Eng. Saidy.
He
highlighted the agency's goal to ensure the technology is appropriate,
user-friendly, and affordable, enabling every citizen to access high-quality
products.
Engineer
Saidy also pointed out the government's objective, as outlined in the National
Strategy for Clean Cooking Energy Use 2024-2034, to achieve an 80 percent
adoption rate of Clean Cooking Energy by 2034.
During his
visit, Eng. Saidy also toured other exhibitors involved in the preparation,
sale, and distribution of Clean Cooking Energy products and discussed ways to
enhance these products to achieve the desired impact.
Before
attending the Kizimkazi Festival, Engineer Saidy participated in the Clean
Cooking Energy Forum organized by the Mwanamke Initiatives Foundation (MIF) and
the Tanzania Investment Bank (TIB), in collaboration with the Ministry of
Energy and its institutions, including REA.
The forum
provided REA with an opportunity to discuss funding availability for advancing clean
Cooking energy initiatives.
