The
Executive Director of the Tanzania Investment Centre (TIC), Gilead Teri has announced that TIC has registered over 240 projects in Iringa with a total
capital investment of USD 8 billion, generating more than 28,000 jobs.
Teri's
announcement was made during a significant investor meeting in the region on
August 22, 2024, where he emphasized Iringa's strategic importance for
investment.
Teri
detailed the substantial investment opportunities available in Iringa,
particularly within the agriculture, industrial, transport, and tourism
sectors.
He pointed
out that the Royal Tour initiative has played a pivotal role in boosting
tourist numbers, with Ruaha National Park now being considered the "new
Serengeti."
The
meeting was also attended by the District Commissioner, Kheri James, who joined
the discussion to commend the investors, outline the opportunities present, and
address the challenges faced by businesses in the region.
This
meeting highlights TIC's commitment to enhancing the investment climate in
Iringa, positioning it as a critical area for economic growth and development
in Tanzania.
