TPLB suspends Jamhuri Stadium in Dodoma

By Our Special Correspondent

The Tanzania Premier League Board (TPLB) has suspended Jamhuri Stadium in Dodoma from hosting league matches until it becomes safe for players.

A statement released by the board's Information Department on Tuesday indicates that the pitch of the stadium is lacking status to stage league fixtures.

The board has since directed Dodoma Jiji FC to seek another home venue among those passed fit to accommodate league games of the season.

Also, the board reminds all clubs to ensure that they keep well their venues throughout the season or else, they will render them unfit to host league encounters.

Meanwhile, Jamhuri Stadium has therefore become the first venue to be suspended this season.

Having quality pitches is among the required standards that enables the country's league to be among the top ranked on the continent (6th) and 64th in the world.

Since all premier league matches are broadcast live on Television, it is a prerequisite to have decorated pitches to go in hand with the value of the league.
