President Samia Suluhu Hassan, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, urged Tanzanians
to maintain peace and protect the nation during the 60th anniversary of the Tanzania People’s Defence Force (TPDF) . The event was held at Uhuru Stadium in
Dar es Salaam on Sunday.
President
Samia emphasized the importance of the military in helping during crises. She
said, “Our military is always there for the people during natural disasters and
accidents.” She praised the TPDF for keeping Tanzania and Africa safe, stating
that the military has always been defensive, never aggressive. “We have never
invaded any country,” she noted, calling the TPDF a symbol of peace and
freedom.
The
President also highlighted the military’s role in supporting the economy. She
spoke about efforts to revive local industries to reduce reliance on imports
and save foreign currency. She encouraged the military to adapt to
technological advancements and global economic changes.

President
Samia expressed confidence in the military’s discipline and loyalty. She urged
senior officers to continue earning the trust of the people.
Minister
of Defence Dr. Stergomena Tax thanked President Samia for her leadership. She
praised her efforts in unifying the nation and supporting the military.
Dr. Tax
also highlighted the TPDF’s commitment to protecting Tanzania’s Constitution
and sovereignty and its active role in international peacekeeping.
TPDF celebrates its 60 years of history and its role in safeguarding
Tanzania’s future.
