Dodoma – The Rural Energy Agency (REA) is set to launch an ambitious project to install approximately 20,000 solar power systems across rural settlements and island areas that lack access to the National Grid. This was confirmed by REA’s Director-General, Mr. Hassan Saidy, during a recent Ministry of Energy management meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Energy, Dr. Doto Biteko, in Dodoma.

Mr. Saidy explained that the initiative focuses on providing solar-powered electricity to underserved areas. "This project entails the installation and distribution of solar energy systems across rural and island communities that remain disconnected from the National Grid. Over the next three years, about 20,000 systems will be installed," he stated.

The project underscores Tanzania’s commitment to expanding energy access and promoting sustainable energy sources in remote regions, contributing to social and economic development in areas currently without reliable electricity.
