Twalipo Sports Bonanza kicks off with intense competition

The highly anticipated Twalipo Sports Bonanza kicked off today with electrifying energy as teams battled for supremacy at the 95 KJ grounds in Dar es Salaam.

The two-day bonanza features thrilling handball and basketball matches, drawing sports enthusiasts eager to witness top-tier competition. The event will culminate tomorrow with final matches and award ceremonies.

In the men’s handball category, Ngome showcased dominance, defeating Victory with a decisive 35-26 victory. In another thrilling encounter, Mlamleni edged out Twalipo in a nail-biting match that ended 19-19, sealing a dramatic win on goal difference.

Ngome continued their winning streak by overpowering Victory 24-18 in a tightly contested rematch. 

However, Victory bounced back with a resounding 39-22 triumph over Twalipo, demonstrating resilience and determination.

Event coordinator Moshi Ally, speaking during the opening ceremony today, November 29, 2024, praised the competitive spirit exhibited by all participating teams. 

"The level of competition is exceptionally high, and it is clear that each team is bringing their best to the field," he said.

Moshi Ally also revealed that the bonanza will serve as a talent scouting platform to select players for the Dar es Salaam regional handball team, which will represent the region at the prestigious Taifa Cup scheduled to take place next month in Dodoma.

The Twalipo Sports Bonanza has not only provided a platform for showcasing athletic talent but has also fostered camaraderie and sportsmanship among players and fans alike. 

With its vibrant atmosphere and high stakes, the event promises an exciting conclusion tomorrow as teams vie for top honors and individual accolades.
