DRC foreign minister visits Tanzania

By Alfred Zacharia

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Ms. Therese Kayikwamba Wagner, who is also a Special Envoy of President Felix Tshisekedi, arrived in Tanzania for an official visit on March 25, 2025.

At the Julius Nyerere International Airport in Dar es Salaam, Ms. Wagner was received by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Mr. Dennis Londo.

The visit aims to strengthen diplomatic ties and enhance cooperation in trade, infrastructure, and regional security.

Hon. Wagner is set to deliver a special message from President Tshisekedi to President Samia Suluhu Hassan.

The visit highlights the close relationship between the two nations, which has been reinforced through trade and transportation, particularly via the Port of Dar es Salaam, a key gateway for Congolese goods.

Tanzania has also played an important role in supporting peace and security efforts in the DRC through its contributions to United Nations peacekeeping missions. With the DRC now a member of the East African Community (EAC), the two countries are working to boost economic integration and regional stability.

This visit is expected to open new opportunities for investment and social development while fostering stronger diplomatic collaboration. Discussions between the leaders are anticipated to result in new strategies for improving trade relations, upgrading transport infrastructure, and enhancing regional cooperation.
