The Deputy Minister of the President'sOffice, Regional Administration, and Local Government (PORALG), Dr. Festo Dugange, has called on nurses and health leaders at all levels to enhance the management of quality health services, ensuring that every citizen receives equitable and high-quality healthcare.
Dr. Dugange made this statement on March 27, 2025, during the opening of the Annual General Meeting for Nurse Leaders at the PSSSF Conference Hall in Dodoma. The theme of the meeting was “QUALITY SERVICE IS MY RESPONSIBILITY.”
He emphasized that the Sixth Phase Government has made substantial investments in the health sector. However, without effective service delivery, particularly from nurses, these investments will not achieve their intended outcomes.
“The government has made significant investments in health infrastructure, medical equipment, and workplace improvements. It is essential that those under your supervision are managed effectively to perform their duties with professionalism and integrity,” Dr. Dugange stressed.
Dr. Dugange further urged nurses across the country to adhere to laws, regulations, procedures, guidelines, and professional ethics to prevent unnecessary complaints in the delivery of basic health services nationwide.
“We recognize that nurses are doing excellent work. However, a few individuals are damaging the profession's reputation by committing avoidable mistakes. Therefore, do not hesitate to take legal and disciplinary action against anyone found violating professional ethics or misappropriating public resources,” Dr. Dugange insisted.
He also encouraged nurses to continue their professional development to gain additional skills and expertise, including training specialist nurses who will help improve the availability of specialized services in hospitals across the country.
