Prof. Mkumbo urges better infrastructure for investors

By The Respondent Reporter

The Minister of State in the President’s Office – Planning and Investment, Prof. Kitila Mkumbo, has called on government institutions to prioritize infrastructure development, especially in economically strategic areas such as investment zones.

He made these remarks yesterday after inaugurating the Nyasa Regional Office of the Tanzania Investment Centre (TIC) in Njombe.

Speaking during a visit to Murikado Food Supply Co. Ltd in Makambako, a factory specializing in avocado oil processing, Prof. Mkumbo praised the Tanzanian investor behind the project, who has injected TZS 5 billion into the venture.

He underscored the importance of essential infrastructure—such as water, roads, and electricity—stressing that investors should not have to struggle to access these services. Instead, their focus should be on driving job creation and stimulating local economic growth.

Prof. Mkumbo further commended the investor for seizing opportunities in agriculture and expanding into value addition.

He also noted that President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan is encouraged by the boldness of Tanzanian entrepreneurs who are taking risks and contributing to the nation’s economic progress.
