Wasira: some mp aspirants are breaking party rules

CCM Vice Chairman for Mainland Tanzania, Stephen Wasira, has said that some people who want to become MPs have started breaking party ethics while seeking support in various constituencies.

Speaking on March 24, 2025, in Ngara District, Kagera Region, during a CCM internal meeting, Wasira reminded both aspiring and current MPs to follow ethical guidelines.

"As Vice Chairman, one of my duties is to ensure party members follow ethics. But some people who want to be MPs have started using unethical ways to gain support. We want delegates to vote freely and confidently say, ‘If we nominate this person, we will win,’ just as we are sure of winning with Dr. Samia," he said.

Wasira explained that CCM expects delegates to choose one name from three shortlisted candidates, ensuring the selected person has strong public support.

"But I have information about some of these aspirants. They have started using money to influence votes. The Bible says bribery blinds people, meaning that if someone is wearing green, but you take a bribe, you might start claiming they are in blue.

"Bribery can change the way people see things. Some of you have already started receiving small amounts—ten thousand here, ten thousand there," he added.
