Kilombero District Commissioner, Advocate Dustan Kyobya, has praised the Tanzania Government Communication Officers' Association (TAGCO) for their efforts in promoting domestic tourism.
Hon. Kyobya made the remarks on April 12, 2025, following a visit by TAGCO members to Udzungwa Mountains National Park one of Tanzania’s key conservation and tourism areas.
“I’m truly pleased to welcome such a large group to our strategically significant district, which is not only known for producing electricity, sugar, and rice but also for its role in conservation,” he said.
He emphasized that the presence of communication officers at the park is vital, as they are uniquely positioned to share the country's diverse tourism attractions with the public.
Kyobya highlighted that Kilombero is a leading district in domestic tourism, mainly due to the Udzungwa Mountains National Park, which boasts a variety of natural attractions.
He also revealed that President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan has approved over TSh 4 billion for the development of a zipline adventure at the Sanje Waterfalls, located within the park, as part of broader efforts to enhance tourism infrastructure.
TAGCO Chairperson, Mr. Karimu Meshack, said the officers’ visit was part of their Annual General Meeting, during which members received various training opportunities.
He noted that the trip was also a way to support President Samia’s ongoing campaign to promote tourism and encourage more Tanzanians to explore the country’s natural beauty.
Meshack further pledged to use Serikali Yetu, a government publication managed by TAGCO, to spotlight the attractions of the Udzungwa Mountains and Sanje Waterfalls.
He said the magazine will serve as a platform to amplify the association’s contribution to promoting domestic tourism both within Tanzania and beyond its borders.
