The Tanzania Shipping Agencies Corporation (TASAC) held a training session for marine transport stakeholders on April 9, 2025, at Kigoma Social Hall. The training aimed to educate participants on how to improve their operations on Lake Tanganyika.
During the event, TASAC’s Chief Marine Transport Regulation Officer, Mr. Sylvester Kanyika, encouraged stakeholders to operate their boats and businesses professionally and follow the rules.
“I urge you to respect the conditions of your licenses so that you can carry out your activities on Lake Tanganyika safely and legally,” said Mr. Kanyika. “Please follow the instructions given by TASAC experts to avoid accidents and other problems.”
TASAC’s Senior Transport Officer, Ms. Selina Mokiti, thanked the participants for attending and advised them to use the knowledge and guidelines provided in their licenses in their daily work.
Mr. Abdulrahman Kaponta, a representative from the Tanzania Ports Authority (TPA) in Kigoma, praised TASAC for offering the training.
He said the training reminded stakeholders about the importance of following safety rules to prevent accidents.
Participants, including boat operators and clearing agents, also thanked TASAC for the training. They said the knowledge came at the right time and would help them improve their daily work.
They requested TASAC to continue offering more training sessions to help them grow and stay safe while operating on Lake Tanganyika.
