Dream Team emerged victorious in the 2025 Samia Cup, securing the championship after defeating Wahenga 2-0 in an intense final held at Mji Mwema Grounds in Kigamboni, Dar es Salaam.

The final, which brought together thousands of football fans from across the region, saw Dream Team display great coordination, discipline, and determination, earning them the prestigious title.

The match kicked off with both teams showing high energy and attacking intent, but it was Dream Team who broke the deadlock in the 40th minute through their striker Samoka Kashushu.

His goal came from a well-timed pass that sliced through Wahenga’s defense, allowing him to slot the ball past the goalkeeper with composure.

Dream Team maintained the 1-0 lead into halftime, with their midfield controlling the tempo and keeping Wahenga's forwards at bay.

The crowd erupted again just five minutes into the second half when Jafarry Thabit doubled the lead with a powerful finish in the 50th minute, extending the advantage and putting pressure on Wahenga to respond.

Despite Wahenga’s attempts to get back into the game, they were unable to break through Dream Team’s solid defensive line. The full-time whistle confirmed Dream Team as champions, capping off a memorable tournament campaign.

With this result, Wahenga settled for second place, while Amazon claimed the third spot after a strong run in the earlier stages of the tournament.

Speaking after the match, Dream Team’s head coach, John Florian, expressed his joy and pride in his team’s achievement. He credited the victory to careful preparation, discipline, teamwork, and strong support from the team’s leadership.

“We are overjoyed to lift the Samia Cup,” said Florian. “This victory did not come by chance. It’s the result of tireless work, dedication from the players, and excellent support from our management. From the very first match to the final, we stayed focused and committed.”

He added, “I thank the management for walking this journey with us—they have been behind us all the way. Most importantly, I commend my players. They followed the game plan, played with heart, and delivered on the pitch.”

The Samia Cup, named in honor of President Samia Suluhu Hassan, continues to grow in popularity as a platform for showcasing emerging football talent and promoting sportsmanship across the country.

With their dominant performance, Dream Team not only lifted the trophy but also won the hearts of fans, setting a high standard for next year’s tournament.
