Ouagadougou, April 17, 2025 – The Special Envoy of Tanzanian President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, former President Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete, has concluded his official visit to Burkina Faso with a high-level meeting with the country’s Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traoré.
Held in the capital city of Ouagadougou, the meeting brought together senior officials from both governments and marked a significant step toward strengthening diplomatic relations between the two African nations.
During the meeting, Dr. Kikwete delivered a Special Message from President Samia, expressing Tanzania’s commitment to deepening ties with Burkina Faso and advancing shared continental goals.
He extended President Samia’s gratitude to Captain Traoré for the warm reception and opportunity to engage in meaningful dialogue.
“My President sent me to deliver a Special Message to you, and I’m pleased that you welcomed me and have officially received it today,” said Dr. Kikwete.
Beyond the formal message, the former Tanzanian leader shared President Samia’s vision for enhanced African cooperation.
He underscored the importance of African nations exchanging experiences and working together to fully unlock the potential of the continent’s vast natural and human resources.
“President Samia firmly believes that for Africa to prosper, we must unite, learn from each other, and collectively manage our resources for the benefit of our people,” he emphasized.
The two leaders also discussed opportunities to collaborate in areas such as trade, agriculture, education, and peace and security sectors considered vital for sustainable development and regional stability.
President Traoré welcomed the message and acknowledged the importance of continued engagement between African nations.
He echoed the call for unity and mutual support, noting that such partnerships are key to addressing shared challenges and fostering prosperity across the continent.
Dr. Kikwete’s visit is part of ongoing diplomatic efforts by President Samia’s administration to reinforce Tanzania’s relationships across Africa.
It aligns with the broader goals of the African Union to promote intra-African solidarity, integration, and development.
Following the successful engagement, Dr. Kikwete returned to Tanzania, marking the conclusion of a mission that reaffirmed the strong and growing bonds between Tanzania and Burkina Faso.
