President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, has urged Tanzanian ambassadors to prioritize economic diplomacy and actively promote investment opportunities available in the country.

Speaking at the State House in Zanzibar, Dr. Mwinyi addressed the newly appointed ambassadors to Rwanda, Zimbabwe, Sweden, and Mozambique, who paid him a courtesy visit before departing for their official duty stations.

"Ambassadors, your mission is not only to represent our country but also to actively promote the vast investment opportunities we have here in Zanzibar and Tanzania as a whole," Dr. Mwinyi stated during the meeting.

"Economic diplomacy is now at the forefront of international relations, and we must leverage it to enhance our growth and development."

Dr. Mwinyi emphasized that Zanzibar continues to require significant investment, particularly in key sectors such as fisheries, tourism, and oil and gas.

"Zanzibar still needs many investors, especially in these priority sectors," he said. "The opportunities here are abundant, and we must attract foreign investment to ensure sustainable growth and job creation."

He also pointed out that international relations today are increasingly focused on economic cooperation. "Now more than ever, we must focus on strengthening our economic ties with other nations," Dr. Mwinyi stressed.

"Economic collaboration is the key to a prosperous future, and you, our ambassadors, are the bridge between Tanzania and the world."

Among the promising areas for investment, he identified container port development, cargo transportation, and the oil and gas sectors.

"These are critical areas where we need partners to help us build a stronger, more competitive economy," he noted.

In addition to investment promotion, Dr. Mwinyi tasked the ambassadors with identifying international markets for Tanzanian products, particularly Zanzibar's high-quality spices.

"We have fantastic products here in Zanzibar, such as our spices, which can find markets in your respective countries," he said.

"You must help us open doors for these products and also promote our rich tourism sector to attract more visitors."

The ambassadors, who pledged to carry out their duties effectively, expressed their commitment to following Dr. Mwinyi's directives.

"We will use your guidance as a roadmap for our work," said Ambassador Dr. Habibu Kambanga, representing Rwanda.

"We are committed to advancing Tanzania's economic interests and will make it our priority to attract investors to the country."

The ambassadors who bid farewell to Dr. Mwinyi included Dr. Habibu Kambanga (Rwanda), CP Suzane Kaganda (Zimbabwe), Mobhare Matinyi (Sweden), and CP Hamad Hamad (Mozambique). Each ambassador reaffirmed their dedication to the mission of promoting Tanzania’s economic opportunities abroad.
