Saifee Hospital, a premier healthcare institution in Tanzania, has officially unveiled its annual Saifee Marathon, an event aimed at advancing public awareness of cardiac health while encouraging the adoption of healthier lifestyles through physical activity and regular health screenings.
The primary objective of this year’s marathon is to educate, empower, and motivate the community to integrate preventive measures against heart disease into their daily lives.
The event is an extension of Saifee Hospital’s enduring commitment to tackling cardiac disease and delivering exceptional cardiology services through its specialized treatment programs.
For several years, Saifee Hospital has been a leader in the fight against cardiac diseases, providing cutting-edge heart care and reaching out to communities through its cardiovascular health initiatives. The marathon serves as a key platform for furthering these objectives and enhancing public health awareness.
During the marathon's launch, Christina Manongi, Public Relations Officer at Saifee Hospital, underscored the hospital’s unwavering commitment to saving lives.
“We believe that prevention is as vital as treatment. This marathon symbolizes our dedication to life-saving interventions, fostering awareness, and encouraging early diagnosis,” she explained.
All proceeds from the marathon, including registration fees and event sponsorship, will be directed towards providing cardiac disease treatment for underserved women within the community.
Dr. Living Nyaki, the Regional Medical Officer, who represented the Regional Commissioner at the event, reaffirmed the government’s strong support for the initiative.
"The government consistently advocates for physical activity as an essential preventive measure against both infectious and non-communicable diseases. We fully endorse this initiative and encourage widespread participation," he stated.
The Saifee Marathon is scheduled for September 28th in the Masaki area of Dar es Salaam. This event is not only a celebration of health but also a pivotal step towards raising awareness of cardiac health and fostering a healthier, more informed community.
