In a bold step to nurture Tanzania’s next generation of scientific leaders, the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has convened key stakeholders in Dodoma to deliberate on the rollout of the Samia Scholarship 360 Extended DSP program.
The initiative, which honors President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s commitment to investing in youth and innovation, is designed to offer scholarships to outstanding Form Six graduates who excelled in science subjects.
Beneficiaries will pursue undergraduate and master's degrees in Data Science at leading universities abroad.
Leading the discussions was the Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Professor Adolf Mkenda, who underscored the critical need for robust collaboration among the ministry, affiliated institutions, and education partners to ensure the program's success and sustainability.
“Our mission is not only to sponsor education but to build a workforce equipped with high-level scientific skills, ready to drive Tanzania’s development agenda,” said Prof. Mkenda. “Strong partnerships will be the backbone of this program’s success.”
Prof. Mkenda further emphasized the importance of early and widespread communication regarding scholarship opportunities. He noted that timely announcements would ensure that qualified students are well-informed and can seize these life-changing prospects.
The Samia Scholarship 360 Extended DSP stands as a strategic move to propel Tanzania into the global knowledge economy, empowering young Tanzanians with critical data science expertise needed in an increasingly digital world.
The meeting brought together representatives from educational institutions, government agencies, and private sector partners, all committed to shaping a new chapter in Tanzania’s scientific and technological advancement.
