Tanzania is set to showcase its economic potential on the global stage at the World Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan, with the government calling on local businesses and entrepreneurs to actively participate in the international exhibition.

Minister for Industry and Trade,  Dr. Selemani Jafo, has encouraged business stakeholders from across the country to seize the opportunity by registering for the event through the Tanzania Trade Development Authority (TanTrade) website at www.tantrade.go.tz

He emphasized that the Expo offers a strategic platform to connect with global markets and foster international partnerships across various sectors.

“The World Expo 2025 presents a significant opportunity for Tanzania to attract foreign investment, promote our products, and establish meaningful trade relationships,” said Dr. Jafo during a press briefing held at the Tanzania Airports Authority’s Terminal I conference hall in Dar es Salaam.

Tanzania’s participation will span several sectors, including tourism, infrastructure, arts, science and technology, agriculture, livestock, fisheries and the blue economy, health, energy, Swahili language and culture, and investment promotion.

The six-month global event, scheduled to take place from April 13 to October 13, 2025, is expected to draw millions of visitors and thousands of exhibitors from around the world.

Organized under the theme Designing Future Society for Our Lives, the Expo aims to provide innovative solutions to global challenges through international collaboration.

Dr. Jafo said Tanzania’s pavilion at the Expo will highlight the country’s development priorities and offer a platform for innovators, businesses, and cultural ambassadors to engage with international audiences.

The Minister urged both public and private sector players to prepare and participate actively, noting that the benefits of the Expo go beyond commercial gains.

“This is also a moment to promote Swahili as an international language and to share the richness of our culture with the world,” he added.

TanTrade, in collaboration with the Embassy of Tanzania in Japan, is leading preparations for the event, including the coordination of exhibitor participation, branding, and promotional activities.

With strong national representation, Tanzania hopes to emerge from the Expo with new trade deals, investment commitments, and a strengthened image as a destination for innovation, culture, and sustainable development.
